Review of the relationship between the dose and the response of vibration training on muscular strength and power
Abstract
Muscular strength and power are essential pillars for health and performance. Nowadays, the vibratory stimulus is assuming as an attractive tool in the field of training and rehabilitation. The characteristics and vibration dose are important to know the effects. The use of platforms represents the most common form of vibration exercise. There are basically two types of vibration platforms: platforms that vibrate in a predominantly vertical direction and the platform that vibrates through rotation about a horizontal axis (oscillating platform). The vibration effect is not limited to muscles near the vibration platform, but also affects those of neighboring muscles. The highest responses and adaptations of the neuromuscular system are achieved with high magnitudes of vibration. Finally, the vibratory stimulus should be based on the basic training principles, especially the progressive overload.
