Association between levels of physical activity, quality of life and comorbidities in hypertension in a city of São Paulo state

Abstract

Objetive: To evaluate the association between physical activity level and cardiovascular risk factors, quality of life, and comorbidities of  hypertensive patients in Agudos (São Paulo-Brazil).

Method: 200 hypertensive patients were evaluated and the associations between international physical activity Questionnaire IPAQ, questionnaire of quality of life SF-36, cardiovascular risk factors and comorbidities were verified.

Results: The level of physical activity was associated with the quality of life in the areas functional capacity, physical limitations and general state of health. There was association between the level of physical activity and quality of life, even adjusting for the confounding variables.

Conclusion: The level of physical activity in hypertensive and diabetic patients was lower than desired and was associated with cardiovascular risk factors, comorbidities and several indicators of quality of life.
