Abstract

We report a case of an athlete who suffered a thrombosis of the central retinal vein in his right eye. The possible connections of hyperhomocysteinemia in the occurrence of thrombotic events in sports are analyzed and taking these phenomena into account when conducting medical examinations for fitness to practice sports and during medical monitoring of high-performance athletes is suggestion.
