Abstract

Objective: To describe the relationship between muscular fitness and anthropometric characteristics in Chilean children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 years.
Method: Observational study with a correlational scope in a sample of 150 Chilean schoolchildren. Handgrip strength in both hands, height, weight, and body mass index were evaluated. Statistical analysis was performed using IBM-SPSS v27.
Results: Males showed higher handgrip strength values, with a statistically significant difference, increasing with age and showing a positive and significant relationship with anthropometric characteristics and age. No differences were found in grip strength between the right and left hands.
Conclusion: This study provides useful reference values, highlighting the need for regular updates of normative data.
