Abstract
Peritalar dislocation is a low-incidence injury that can lead to sequelae preventing the return to work or sports activities. Treatment is usually conservative, except in cases of open, irreducible dislocations, neurovascular compromise, or associated injuries that indicate surgery.
We present the case of an amateur basketball player who suffered a lateral peritalar dislocation, which was treated conservatively with closed reduction under sedation, immobilization with a plaster splint for 6 weeks, and subsequent functional rehabilitation.
Four months after the accident, the patient was discharged with a 25º dorsiflexion deficit, without pain or instability, but ceased competitive sports.
