Cambio climático, contaminación del aire y su impacto en la salud: El rol de la actividad física
Abstract
Climate change and air pollution represent significant challenges for public health, with adverse effects spanning cardiovascular, respiratory, and metabolic diseases. Exposure to fine particulate matter (PM2.5) has been linked to the increase in chronic diseases, and its interaction with physical activity is crucial to maximize benefits and minimize risks. This article examines the relationship between air pollution and health, highlighting the biological mechanisms of damage, such as oxidative stress and inflammation. Additionally, the benefits of physical activity in polluted environments and the need for strategies that promote exercise under safe conditions are explored. The findings underscore the urgency of integrated policies that combine emission reduction and the promotion of physical activity to improve public health and address the effects of climate change and air pollution.
