Abstract

The Avilés Working Group emerged in 2009 with the impetus of the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD) and is made up, among others, of representatives of the Physical Education and Sports Medicine Centers of all the autonomous communities that have these infrastructures. The objectives of this working group include the coordination between these autonomous sports medicine structures, the proposal of common solutions to the different problems suffered by each of the centers and being an advisory group, in the different areas of the physical education and sports medicine, for the CSD. This working group meets periodically and at its last meeting, held in Miranda de Ebro (Burgos) on October 2-3, 2023, a series of conclusions were agreed upon, in relation to the benefits of physical activity in pathologies such as diabetes, cancer or neurodegenerative diseases, the defense of Physical Exercise Prescription as a top priority health action, the digitalization of sports medicine centers and the use of artificial intelligence and the need to create training places for specialists in physical education and sports medicine.
